ALOR SETAR, 16 March 2026 – The School of Business and Social Sciences (SBSS) EduEngage Team of Albukhary International University (AIU) successfully organised the Iftar and Ihya’ Ramadan 2026 community engagement program on 12 March 2026 in Sungai Petani, Kedah.
​Conducted at the MRA Alternative Learning Center, the initiative was made possible through a strategic collaboration with MRA Kedah and the Addien Islamic Integrated School Alor Setar. This meaningful program represents a continuation of an impactful, long-term project initially launched in 2024, which has consistently worked to strengthen the educational motivation of Rohingya children in the region.

​A vital component of the day's success was the active involvement of the AIU Myanmar Students’ Association (AMSA). Student volunteers from the association led a series of interactive, peer-to-peer activities with the Rohingya youth and Project IQ students, bridging cultural gaps and facilitating meaningful connections through shared experiences.
​Fostering Mutual Growth and Institutional Impact
​The Iftar and Ihya’ Ramadan program yielded profound benefits for both the recipient community and the university participants. For the Rohingya students, the session served as a powerful motivational catalyst, encouraging them to persist in their educational journeys while deepening their sense of belonging within the wider community. Concurrently, the AIU student volunteers gained invaluable experiential learning, honing their leadership capabilities, cultivating deep empathy, and refining their intercultural communication skills in a real-world setting.
​On an institutional level, this collaboration significantly bolstered the overall learning ecosystem at the MRA Alternative Learning Center. By providing consistent volunteer support and targeted educational engagement activities, the initiative has successfully solidified a robust partnership between grassroots humanitarian organizations and formal academic institutions.

​This ongoing initiative directly advances several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically focusing on Quality Education (SDG 4), Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).

The AIU Myanmar Students' Association (AMSA) successfully organized the "Enhance Your Qur'anic Recitation with the Art of Tarannum" workshop on 7 and 9 March 2026. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Nidhioli Ibrahim and was held at Lecture Theatre 5 and the Auditorium.

The workshop focused on helping participants improve their Qur'anic recitation through proper vocal control while preserving the correct rules of Tajweed. Participants had the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of Tarannum and gain practical guidance on enhancing the beauty and accuracy of their recitation.

Open to all AIU students, the workshop provided a valuable learning experience for those seeking to strengthen their recitation skills and deepen their understanding of the Qur'an. AMSA extends its appreciation to the speaker and all participants for making the workshop a meaningful and successful event.

Cultural Week, presenting Htarwara Mandalay as a showcase of Myanmar's rich cultural heritage, history, and traditions.

The exhibition provided visitors with an opportunity to experience the beauty and identity of Myanmar through cultural displays that reflected the country's unique heritage. The event also served as a platform to promote cultural appreciation and strengthen connections among the diverse AIU community.

The Homeland Exhibition attracted many visitors who explored the displays and learned more about Myanmar's traditions and cultural values. AMSA extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who visited the exhibition and celebrated this meaningful cultural experience.

Thadingyut is a meaningful celebration that symbolizes gratitude, respect, and togetherness. It is a time to reflect, strengthen relationships, and celebrate the values that bring communities together.

The gathering provided participants with the opportunity to break their fast together, enjoy a shared meal, and strengthen friendships through meaningful conversations. The event reflected the values of Ramadan by promoting compassion, mutual respect, and a strong sense of community among AMSA members.

On 21 March 2025, members of the AIU Myanmar Students' Association (AMSA) participated in an Iftar Gathering at Madrasah Tahfiz Md Noor, sharing a meaningful evening with the students and teachers of the madrasah during the holy month of Ramadan.

The gathering provided an opportunity for AMSA members to strengthen relationships with the local community while embracing the values of compassion, gratitude, and togetherness that Ramadan represents. Sharing the Iftar meal created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, fostering mutual understanding and meaningful connections among all participants.

AMSA extends its sincere appreciation to the organizers and the management of Madrasah Tahfiz Md Noor for their generous hospitality and warm welcome. The association hopes that this meaningful engagement will continue to strengthen community ties and inspire future initiatives that promote unity, service, and mutual respect.

The AIU Myanmar Students' Association (AMSA) proudly participated in the ASEAN Youth Camp 2025, held from 30 May to 1 June 2025 at Institute Aminuddin Baki (IAB), Genting Highlands. Organized by the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) ESEA in collaboration with IIIT Myanmar, the camp brought together youth leaders from ASEAN under the theme "Building Dream Foundation for Collective Future Success: Empower, Lead, Transform – Shaping Tomorrow's Leaders Today."

Representing AIU, students from Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Cambodia participated in a range of activities, including presentations, team-building sessions, essay writing, and leadership discussions. The programme provided participants with valuable opportunities to exchange ideas, strengthen regional cooperation, and develop leadership skills.

A significant milestone for AMSA was its role as a co-organizer of the event alongside IIIT Myanmar. The conference welcomed participants from all ten ASEAN countries and various universities, highlighting international collaboration and cultural exchange. AMSA is honoured to have contributed to the successful organization of this regional programme.

The ASEAN Youth Camp 2025 served as an important platform for leadership development, networking, and cross-cultural understanding, while further strengthening AMSA's commitment to empowering future leaders and promoting regional collaboration.

The AIU Myanmar Students' Association (AMSA), in collaboration with IIIT Myanmar, successfully concluded the Qur'an Burmese Translation Enhancement Project with a Closing Ceremony and Special Talk Session held on 2 August 2025 at Albukhary International University (AIU).

From 23 to 31 July 2025, 22 AMSA volunteers participated in a comprehensive proofreading project to enhance the Burmese translation of the Holy Qur'an. Under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maulana Akbar Shah from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), the volunteers carefully reviewed each verse, ensuring the accuracy of surah titles, verse numbers, spelling, punctuation, and translation.

The closing ceremony featured a special talk titled "Epistemological and Cosmological Worldview in the Qur'an," where invited speakers shared valuable insights into Qur'anic knowledge and understanding. During the event, volunteers also reflected on their experiences and received certificates in recognition of their dedication and contributions to the project.

AMSA extends its sincere appreciation to IIIT Myanmar, the guest speakers, project supervisors, and all volunteers whose commitment made the initiative a success. The project not only strengthened the quality of the Burmese Qur'an translation but also reflected AMSA's commitment to meaningful volunteer service, academic collaboration, and community development.

Direct Impact: AIU Community Unites to Deliver RM8,600 in Emergency Myanmar Earthquake Relief
​Following a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar—heavily destroying critical infrastructure, historic buildings, and residential areas in the hardest-hit regions of Mandalay and Sagaing—the Albukhary International University (AIU) Myanmar Students’ Association (AMSA) rapidly mobilized a campus-wide humanitarian response. The catastrophe, which resulted in the loss of over 1,600 lives, thousands of injuries, and a government-declared state of emergency across six regions, directly impacted the families of several students within the AIU campus community.
​In immediate response to the crisis, AMSA launched an intensive emergency donation drive running from 30 March to 4 April 2025. The initiative provided transparent channels for financial support, utilizing direct banking transfers to the association's treasury alongside coordinated physical cash collection points managed by student leadership.
​Fundraising Milestones and Financial Transparency
​The collective empathy and rapid mobilization of AIU students, faculty, lecturers, and the surrounding community yielded an overwhelming response. By the conclusion of the fundraising window, the campaign successfully raised a grand total of RM 8,601.07, which translates to approximately 8,600,000 MMK.
​Every contribution, regardless of size, played an essential role in compiling the substantial financial pool required to execute a meaningful, rapid-response relief deployment.
​Field Deployment and Strategic Distribution of Aid
​To ensure the highest standards of accountability and ensure that aid was distributed directly to those in the most desperate need, AMSA bypassed generic channels and established immediate coordinates on the ground. On 7 April 2025, the collected funds were securely processed and deployed through two distinct, targeted aid streams:
​Ground Relief in Disaster Zones: AMSA collaborated closely with highly credible, local Islamic humanitarian organizations operating in the disaster fields. These partnerships allowed for the swift, efficient delivery of essential survival aid and emergency provisions directly to affected individuals and families in the worst-hit areas of the Mandalay and Sagaing regions.
​Internal Community Support: Recognizing that charity and solidarity begin at home, a calculated portion of the financial aid was carefully ring-fenced and distributed directly to the families of AIU Myanmar students whose households and livelihoods were compromised by the earthquake. This internal support network helped alleviate the immense stress carried by students managing their academic responsibilities while navigating a crisis back home.
​A Unified Message of Appreciation
​The success of this emergency response underscores the immense strength found in civic unity and shared global responsibility. AMSA extends its deepest, most heartfelt gratitude to the entire international student body, university lecturers, administrative staff, and members of the public who stepped forward with financial contributions, logistics assistance, and emotional solidarity throughout the process.
​By actively standing with Myanmar during an unprecedented natural disaster, the AIU community powerfully demonstrated the practical execution of the association's foundational motto: “We Rise by Lifting Others.” Through quick action and collective generosity, student leadership succeeded in delivering tangible relief, building resilience, and restoring hope for families during their hour of greatest need.
