ALOR SETAR, 16 March 2026 – The School of Business and Social Sciences (SBSS) EduEngage Team of Albukhary International University (AIU) successfully organised the Iftar and Ihya’ Ramadan 2026 community engagement program on 12 March 2026 in Sungai Petani, Kedah.
​Conducted at the MRA Alternative Learning Center, the initiative was made possible through a strategic collaboration with MRA Kedah and the Addien Islamic Integrated School Alor Setar. This meaningful program represents a continuation of an impactful, long-term project initially launched in 2024, which has consistently worked to strengthen the educational motivation of Rohingya children in the region.

On 21 March 2025, members of the AIU Myanmar Students' Association (AMSA) participated in an Iftar Gathering at Madrasah Tahfiz Md Noor, sharing a meaningful evening with the students and teachers of the madrasah during the holy month of Ramadan.

The gathering provided an opportunity for AMSA members to strengthen relationships with the local community while embracing the values of compassion, gratitude, and togetherness that Ramadan represents. Sharing the Iftar meal created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, fostering mutual understanding and meaningful connections among all participants.

AMSA extends its sincere appreciation to the organizers and the management of Madrasah Tahfiz Md Noor for their generous hospitality and warm welcome. The association hopes that this meaningful engagement will continue to strengthen community ties and inspire future initiatives that promote unity, service, and mutual respect.

Direct Impact: AIU Community Unites to Deliver RM8,600 in Emergency Myanmar Earthquake Relief
​Following a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar—heavily destroying critical infrastructure, historic buildings, and residential areas in the hardest-hit regions of Mandalay and Sagaing—the Albukhary International University (AIU) Myanmar Students’ Association (AMSA) rapidly mobilized a campus-wide humanitarian response. The catastrophe, which resulted in the loss of over 1,600 lives, thousands of injuries, and a government-declared state of emergency across six regions, directly impacted the families of several students within the AIU campus community.
​In immediate response to the crisis, AMSA launched an intensive emergency donation drive running from 30 March to 4 April 2025. The initiative provided transparent channels for financial support, utilizing direct banking transfers to the association's treasury alongside coordinated physical cash collection points managed by student leadership.
​Fundraising Milestones and Financial Transparency
​The collective empathy and rapid mobilization of AIU students, faculty, lecturers, and the surrounding community yielded an overwhelming response. By the conclusion of the fundraising window, the campaign successfully raised a grand total of RM 8,601.07, which translates to approximately 8,600,000 MMK.
​Every contribution, regardless of size, played an essential role in compiling the substantial financial pool required to execute a meaningful, rapid-response relief deployment.
​Field Deployment and Strategic Distribution of Aid
​To ensure the highest standards of accountability and ensure that aid was distributed directly to those in the most desperate need, AMSA bypassed generic channels and established immediate coordinates on the ground. On 7 April 2025, the collected funds were securely processed and deployed through two distinct, targeted aid streams:
​Ground Relief in Disaster Zones: AMSA collaborated closely with highly credible, local Islamic humanitarian organizations operating in the disaster fields. These partnerships allowed for the swift, efficient delivery of essential survival aid and emergency provisions directly to affected individuals and families in the worst-hit areas of the Mandalay and Sagaing regions.
​Internal Community Support: Recognizing that charity and solidarity begin at home, a calculated portion of the financial aid was carefully ring-fenced and distributed directly to the families of AIU Myanmar students whose households and livelihoods were compromised by the earthquake. This internal support network helped alleviate the immense stress carried by students managing their academic responsibilities while navigating a crisis back home.
​A Unified Message of Appreciation
​The success of this emergency response underscores the immense strength found in civic unity and shared global responsibility. AMSA extends its deepest, most heartfelt gratitude to the entire international student body, university lecturers, administrative staff, and members of the public who stepped forward with financial contributions, logistics assistance, and emotional solidarity throughout the process.

​On 30 November 2025, representatives from the Albukhary International University (AIU) Myanmar Students’ Association (AMSA) visited a local flood-affected village to deliver emergency food supplies—including rice, cooking oil, noodles, and bread—to families and refugees displaced by the recent severe weather.
​This targeted humanitarian mission was organized directly by AMSA in immediate response to the flash floods that heavily impacted the local area. Among those hit hardest were the Rohingya children and families from Madrasah Tahfiz Md Noor, where AMSA student volunteers regularly teach as part of their year-long weekend education initiative, Project HOPE. Recognizing the acute vulnerability of their young students during this crisis, the association quickly mobilized a specialized donation drive to provide immediate relief and emotional solidarity.

Rising Together Campaign: How AIU Students Mobilized for Myanmar Flood Relief
In response to the devastating floods in Myanmar, the Albukhary International University (AIU) Myanmar Students’ Association (AMSA), alongside University General Programme (UGP) students and Foundation Studies juniors, successfully launched and concluded the "Rising Together" Campaign.
Spanning an intensive two-week period during the university's academic examination season, the student-led humanitarian initiative provided the campus community with accessible, daily avenues to support global disaster relief efforts while balancing busy academic schedules.
Campaign Initiatives and Fundraising Activities
The campaign successfully engaged the AIU community through two creative, service-oriented initiatives:
"Donate While You Eat" Food Drive: Students and staff purchased a variety of affordable food items across campus, with 100% of the proceeds funneled directly into the relief fund.
"Donate When You Pamper Yourself" Charity Salon: A dedicated pop-up hair salon event was organized on campus, offering professional haircuts and hairstyling services, with a major portion of the service fees donated to the cause.
Allocation of Funds and On-the-Ground Impact
Through the collective generosity, physical labor, and financial contributions of AIU’s Myanmar student body and the wider campus community, the campaign successfully raised a grand total of 2,560,000 Ks (approximately RM 2,305.14).
To ensure maximum accountability and immediate local impact, the funds were systematically distributed across three critical, severely affected areas in Myanmar:
Tatkone Region: A primary contribution of 1,520,000 Ks was allocated to the Tatkone Youth Philanthropy Group to assist with localized rescue and recovery operations.
Inle Region: A sum of 520,000 Ks was delivered directly to families in need through the dedicated, in-person ground efforts of Ma Ei Ei Cho.
Kalaw Region: An additional 520,000 Ks was safely distributed to affected communities through the direct, on-the-ground volunteer work of Ma Nyein Htet Htet San.

AIU’s AMSA HOPE Project Brings Vital Education to Rohingya Refugee Children
​ALOR SETAR, 19 August 2025 – Project HOPE 2025, a premier community education initiative spearheaded by the Albukhary International University (AIU) Myanmar Students’ Association (AMSA), continues to make significant strides in expanding educational access for Rohingya refugee children in northern Malaysia.
​Initially launched in 2024 and now in its second successful year of operation, the initiative has grown into a highly structured weekend learning programme hosted at Madrasah Tahfiz Md Noor.
​A Structured Curriculum for Holistic Learning
​Project HOPE currently serves nearly 100 children aged 3 to 14. To ensure that every child receives an education tailored to their specific needs, the students are divided into six distinct learning levels.
​The comprehensive curriculum focuses on foundational subjects and essential digital literacy:
​English & Mathematics: Building core literacy and numerical competence.
​Science: Fostering curiosity and critical thinking about the world.
​Computing: Introducing practical, modern technical skills.
​Beyond academic subjects, the lessons are carefully designed to instill practical life skills, building long-term confidence and resilience among the young learners.
​Driven by Student Leadership and Volunteerism
​The sustainability of Project HOPE relies heavily on the dedication of more than 50 Myanmar student volunteers from AIU. Operating on a systematic rotational schedule to ensure academic continuity, the volunteer team is highly organized:
​Each learning level is guided by a designated Head of Class.
​Heads of Class are responsible for crafting weekly lesson plans and mentoring peer volunteers.
​The structured rotation ensures that the weekend classes remain consistent, high-quality, and deeply engaging.

​To maintain high educational standards and institutional alignment, Project HOPE operates under a robust framework of academic and NGO mentorship:

AIU AMSA Celebrates Little Stars Through Project HOPE 2025

EduEngage AIU–RCS 2025 Empowers Communities Through Dynamic Intervention
​ALOR SETAR, 1 December 2025 – Albukhary International University (AIU), through its EduEngage AIU–Rohingya Community School (RCS) initiative, successfully conducted another impactful intervention session at the Rohingya Community School in Sungai Petani on Sunday, 30 November 2025.
